Balsamic-Fig Shortcakes with Pistachios and Honey Whipped Cream
<p>It might come as a shock, but warm, fluffy, golden-edged biscuits are ridiculously simple to make at home. In this variation of a classic American shortcake, Chef Taylor pairs rustic homemade biscuits with a sticky compote of dried figs, sugar, tangy balsamic vinegar, and white wine (good news for the under-21 crowd: the alcohol cooks out!). On top, we take whipped cream up a notch by folding in honey, then sprinkle over pistachios for crunch.</p>
