'Rougher Beauty' by Hana Shoup
My art is formed by my passion for materials, classic forms, women's biographies, and art history. I absorb these influences and synthesize them with my own memories and experiences in order to create psychological self-portraits. My paintings often combine formal abstraction and classical figuration with physical gestures, expressionist color, and ambiguous anatomy.
This piece, Rougher Beauty, is about the juxtaposition of textures, colors, and the refined versus natural beauty.
This is a hand-colored lithograph print.
