Great Swamp Conservancy Trail
Great Swamp Conservancy, Canastota, NY Frogs and feathers, trees and flowers, can be found at natures best by walking the bluebird trails at the Great Swamp Conservancy. An outdoor enthusiast delight is a stroll on the unique 900 foot boardwalk though a flooded forest. East side Trail: 115 Acre property that includes approximately four miles of flat trails that venture through both a wetlands and a forested habitat. This trail also features interpretative signage, ,picnic tables and benches. This trail is seasonable wet so boots are recommended. This is an early successional habitat management demonstration area in progress. Westside Trail: Approximately 1.5 miles of flat , groomed trail that is seasonally wet. There is also 900 foot boardwalk through the swamp. Benches offer a nice relaxing spot to observe the plentiful bird life ,butterflies , dragonflies. listen to the amphibians and see the Osprey platform. This is a fantastic bird watching area.
