Wildwood Mountain Trail
From the Iron Mountain trail head hike up to the junction with the sign. Turn left and as the trail starts to go downhill towards Ramona Overlook look for a very small cairn on your right. Start your cross country hike to the summit here. First go up and over bump 2200' to get to the proper ridgeline. Go over this bump on the far right so that the bushwacking is not as severe. Once past and down this bump 2200' continue climbing and bushwacking the ridge while aiming for successive rock outcrops all the way the summit. The brush thins out more and more as you go. From the summit there are amazing views of many of SD counties mountains and Ramona. Especially the San Diego River Gorge area and the Cuyamaca Mountains. You also get a close up rare view of the back side of Iron Mountain and the big cliffs on Ramona Overlook Peak aka Pumpkin Peak. Go back the same way and remember this time to go around the left side of bump 2200' to avoid the thickest of the brush.
