June 4th Museum
The world's first permanent museum dedicated to the 1989 pro-democracy protests in Běijīng's Tiān'ānmén Square. The 800-sq-ft space has artefacts, photographs, books and microfilm related to the incident including casings of bullets supposedly fired by the People's Liberation Army and T-shirts signed by the Běijīng student leaders, including Wang Dan. A copy of the Goddess of Democracy statue built by the students stands at the heart of the museum.
