Auditorium Parco della Musica
Designed by archistar Renzo Piano and inaugurated in 2002, Rome's flagship cultural centre is an audacious work of architecture consisting of three grey pod-like concert halls set round a 3000-seat amphitheatre. Excavations during its construction revealed remains of an ancient Roman villa, which are now on show in the Auditorium's small Museo Archeologico. Guided tours (for a minimum of 10 people) depart hourly between 11.30am and 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday, and by arrangement from Monday to Friday.
