Type B Insulin resistance syndrome is an autoimmune disorder characterised by production of antibodies against the Insulin receptors, which leads to disorder in glucose metabolism (from hyperglycemia to hypoglycemia), extreme Insulin resistance, Acanthosis Nigricans and hyperandrogenism. Treatment with prednisolone and azathioprine was initiated for 6 weeks, in the patient displayed in the slide. There was normalization of blood glucose, Insulin and Testosterone levels, and clinical improvement of Acanthosis Nigricans (panel C & D).
