Mean Platelet Volume and Platelet Distribution Width as Markers of Vascular Thrombosis in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Platelets play an important role in the integrity of normal homeostasis, and mean platelet volume (MPV) is the indi-cation for its function. The larger platelets contain more dense granules, produce more thromboxane A2, platelet factor A, and beta-thromboglobulin, and hence are more potent than the smaller platelets and more thrombogenic.
